About Urja

Urja (Jennifer Jacobsen) is a Lakulish Yoga Instructor, Licensed Massage Therapist, and a Reiki Master. She feels her purpose in life is to evolve spiritually and to support others in the unfoldment of their own spiritual potential.

From a very young age, Urja has been fascinated by various approaches to spirituality. Her B.A. degree in Religion and Philosophy led her to study many religions and cultures around the world. After traversing many paths, she began practicing Kundalini Yoga at the Baba Siri Chand Ashram in Altamonte Springs, FL and was later introduced to Hatha Yoga while taking classes in Salt Springs, FL.  In 2006, Urja completed her 200 hours of professional, certified training in Hatha Yoga as required by Yoga Alliance. It was during her training that she met her spiritual teacher, Swami Sri Ashutosh Muniji (affectionately called “Bapuji”) and has since been dedicated to the path of Sanatana Dharma, “Divine Law”. Urja (pronounced OO-R-JA) is the spiritual name given to Jennifer by Bapuji.  The name means “energy”.

Through the authentic Yoga teachings of Swami Sri Ashutosh Muniji, father of the Lakulish Yoga family, Urja is constantly learning how to remove the blockages to Truth within and guide herself into alignment with the world around her.

Urja’s work with Yamas and Niyamas (right actions/observances), Asana (postures), Pranayam (breathwork), Mantra and Kirtan (chanting), Meditation, and Scripture study combined with the ancient principles of Sanatana Dharma, helps her stay connected to that Source of peace and joy that lay within and beyond the inquisitive mind.

Urja also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and began her Masters of Fine Arts in Acting. She has also received many awards for creative writing and poetry. Urja loves to combine her skills in theatre and storytelling with her love for children and Project Violet.
